I am shopping for a small preamp with XLRs for my Canon 6D, and I’ve read the JuicedLinks were decent. Since the 6D has no headphone jack, I need one. Do you recommend a model? I also need to purchase a mic as well.
The model I was looking at was this one, what do you think?
Thanks for any thoughts.

Yes I like the JuicedLink micro preamps. A lot! Going to get one myself sometime.
The Riggys come in various versions. With/without levels and with/without phantom power. And finally with 3 or 2 XLR inputs.
You probably don’t need Riggy Assist models because the audio levels will show on screen on the 6D and 5Dmk3 (and maybe on the 70D). But you might want them, especially if you mount the Riggy up high and you can’t see your camera’s screen.
The bigger thing is are you going to need phantom power? Pro mics have no power source and need phantom power. So if you think you’ll ever use a pro shotgun or lav, that phantom power is required.
Now Mics. It’s hard to recommend a mic because I don’t know what you’re filming. As you know, the closer to the talent the better the sound. Rode has the Videomic Pro which is good for on-camera run n gun interviews, or you can mount it on a boom pole. $229. I also like the pro version, the Rode NG-2, for on-camera or on-pole, but for that you’ll need the phantom power on the JuicedLink. And whoa that NG-2 is now $269. For the NG-2 you’ll also need a Shock Mount.
So with those two similar in price, I suppose it comes down to how compact you want your mic to be.
