I ordered the Rapoo H3070 headphones because I wanted to try some radio wireless headphones for metal detecting. I wanted radio over bluetooth because blutooth can have a delay which is annoying for listening to a metal detector’s beeps. And these were recommended on the metal detecting forum I read. The wireless is 2.4ghz.
As usual they took a bit to arrive from China. They do come with a manual that is reasonably easy to figure out. The manual has some detailed images for directions as well as written directions in English. One thing that took me a bit to figure out was if you want to turn on the headphones you have to push in the louder/softer volume toggle.
They come with these two cables. The top one is a USB to 1/8th inch that lets you use these wired when your battery is dead. The lower cable is the USB charger – the minis plug into the headphones and wireless transmitter. You can also use them while they are charging. They also come in several different colors.
Comfort-wise I’m impressed. I have a pretty big head and these headphones feel quite nice. One earphone rotates while both pull downward to adjust to your size. You can even wear them with the support bar off your head. The ear cups grip but don’t push in so hard that it hurts your ears – even after hours of use. Overall these seem to be constructed well. They feel solid, like they will last a while.
Sound-wise they are good. I’d say the sound quality is a 6 out of 10 with very little base. But I didn’t buy them to listen to high fidelity music. I bought them to hear the beeps of my detector on a summer day where the large, clunky metal detector headphones were just too hot. They go for six hours before needing a charge, which should be plenty of time for metal detecting.
Some reviews I read spoke of a need for an in-line volume control cable to go between the Rapoos and detector, but I found I did not need this with the AT Pro. The sounds were fine and I was able to adjust the volume with the Rapoo control.
