I took my Glidecam 4′ Compact Jib out to the west loop of Chicago to try it out. My first time using a jib. I like this one. It’s available from their website glideshot.com
I enjoyed using it and learned a few things. For one, you can’t see jack on your screen in the bright sun. I had a very hard time seeing much of anything on the Sony field monitor even with the sun flaps. I kept unplugging it from the camera to see my settings on my camera. (I’ve since bought a Zacuto EVF Flip. Or you could carry a black cloth to drape over you and the camera in the sun.)
The 10 lbs of weight on the other end was a perfect amount to balance the camera.
I used my Davis & Sanford video tripod, because you want a pretty heavy duty tripod to support this jib. I would like to try my Manfrotto tripod to get lower to the ground.
